We provide primary care, health promotion and disease prevention services to southeast Toronto. A unique aspect of our mandate is to serve people who may have difficulty accessing health care due to factors such as language, culture, poverty or the lack of health insurance. The Database Developer works under the direction of the Operations Manager and partnership with other staff and management to support the Vision, Mission, and Values of the Centre. This position is part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program. *RESPONSIBILITIES * * Design, build, and maintain a Microsoft Access database to track keys and furniture inventory * Enter and clean existing inventory data for accuracy and consistency * Define the data model, including consistent tables, data fields (schema), and relationships * Create efficient forms and reports in Access for streamlined data entry and retrieval * Write and optimize queries (using SQL and the Access Query Designer) for data extraction and analysis related to administrative and operational needs * Perform regular inventory audits to reconcile physical items with database records and troubleshoot discrepancies * Collaborate with staff to ensure the database effectively supports day-to-day operations * Generate periodic inventory and key usage reports * Assist in creating protocols for the check-in/check-out of keys and movement of furniture * Provide suggestions for improvements in organization, tracking, and process workflow *ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS* *This is a Canada Summer Jobs position. To be eligible, applicants must:* * Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period\*; * be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment\*\*; and, * have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. _\*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period._ _\*\*International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student?s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market._ *QUALIFICATIONS* * Suited to a youth interested in information systems in a community health/non-profit environment * Intermediate to advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access (databases design, queries, forms, and reports) * Understanding of data organization principles (tables, relationships, normalization, etc.) * Excellent interpersonal skills with clients and colleagues in a culturally diverse practice population * Attention to detail with strong computer skills, particularly in Excel- Location Toronto, ON
